Winter Bloo(m)s and Berries Wedding Inspiration

My name’s Paulina and I’m super excited to be a part of the Estera team!! I’m a senior (yay!) at DePaul chasing after my degree in Hospitality Leadership. The saying goes that all girls dream of their wedding day, and while it holds true for me, I’m also the one helping my friends dream up theirs. I spent my summer interning in Dublin, Ireland and fell in love with weddings all that much more. Beautiful blooms and bouquets hold a special place in my heart.

I’ve called Chicago home since day one, and let’s be honest, it’s probably one of, if not, the coolest places to live. You’ll find inspiration everywhere you look – even during our chilly winters. There’s something so stunning about the reds and golds against the contrast of the white snow (and your dress). That’s where my winter wedding inspiration draws from. The deep red blossoms complimented with soft pinks, greenery and dark berries is perfect for the bride looking to add a little something different to her bouquet. Throw in some candles and velvet details for the ultimate feel good warmth you want your guests to feel on your winter wedding day.

New Year’s Eve Wedding Inspiration

Wedding planning was never on the agenda for me. But, like all great love stories, I fell head over heels when I least expected.

In the midst of an English degree, I started working for Paramount Events: a catering company in Chicago. The job was great, but my favorite days on the job were the weddings. My parents were stationed on military bases in Europe most my life, so I never had the pleasure of going to family weddings growing up. Now, every beautiful summer weekend has a wedding in store for me.

The behind-the-scenes of a wedding are just as magical as the big moment itself. A thousand pieces come into play. A million small movements transform an empty space into a paradise; tables and chairs appear out of nowhere, flowers bloom in every blank space, colorful linens flash across the room, and it all comes together. There is nothing more satisfying than creating something so beautiful from the ground up. I wanted more. I wanted to go deeper into the process of creation. Maybe it’s the English major in me, but I wanted to know more about the backstory which built up to a great climax. That’s what a wedding day is: the climactic beginning of a couple’s story.

Working as an intern with Estera is my beginning.

The new beginnings of a wedding parallel the fresh start to the new yer. A New Year’s Eve wedding is the best start to the year. But, before adhering to your New Year’s Resolutions, celebrate in excess with decadent desserts, sparkling champagne, and an abundance of romance. New beginnings are bright and shiny, inspiring extravagant light fixtures and gold hues. With the gold, you can either go for a dramatic contrast, such as dark purple, or lighten it up with lighter colors and greenery. At least two adorable kiss photos will be your souvenirs of the night: from when you said “I do” and when the clock struck twelve. The joys of a NYE wedding will follow you through your marriage; you’ll have double the fun celebrating your anniversary every year!
